73 percent of wireless users talk while driving

Verizon has attempted to circumvent rules prohibiting it from lobbying the FCC behind the scenes to change conditions on the upcoming 700MHz auction, while, at the same time, challenging the conditions in court, so says Frontline Wireless LLC, a likely competing bidder in the auction.  While the telecommunications industry has been discussing the possibility of creating a wireless 411 directory, according to the FCC, even if a wireless 411 directory is established, most telemarketing calls to cell phones would still be illegal, regardless of whether the number is listed on the federal government’s National Do Not Call Registry or whether or not they perform a reverse phone look up.  Other wireless businesses cater to the religious community by adding, not taking away, cell phone features.  Meanwhile, an insurance company survey estimated 73 percent of wireless users talk while driving.
