Since the 1850s (or over 150 years), the japanese candlestick method of illustrating real-time market pricing of stocks and commodities has been in use.
Often touted as a much more thorough and detailed method of price representation, candlesticks tell buyers, sellers, and traders alike what the true market for any given stock or commodity is, and has been.
Just a few nuggets of information a candlestick can tell us are whether or not an ending price fell above or below the opening price, what the actual open to close ratio is, and the amount of activity a particular stock or commodity is undergoing.
