By them at least two sizes larger

Whenever you are buying sweaters for your children, make sure that you purchase sweaters which are at least two sizes larger than the size that they normally wear.  The reason for this should be very obvious — kids grow very fast, and sweaters, especially good-quality sweaters, are not cheap — so you want your child to be able to wear their sweater as long as possible.  If you have purchased them two sizes larger, they will have plenty of time to wear them — in most cases at least two seasons (two years).  If the sweaters are a bit vague in the meantime, have them roll up their sleeve cuffs until they have a chance to grow into it.
