My Niece was Too Young to be an Alcoholic, or was She?

October 30th, 2008 by admin

I have a beautiful 28 year old niece who, a few years ago, checked herself into drug and alcohol rehab. I was shocked, but naturally wanted to be by her side. I was not allowed to go to her for several weeks, but when she was allowed visitors. I certainly went to see her and take her some things to keep her spirits up. She began telling me how it all happened to her, and I listened to her while we cried together. She did tell me one of her most noticeable alcoholism symptoms was not sleeping well.  She is one strong, and awesome young woman. She has certainly overcome many obstacles. and is headed toward her Master’s Degree within the next few months. She has been free from alcohol and drugs for over 7 years now, and is going strong. She still attends regular meetings, and has been very involved as a sponsor for others. I am so proud of her. I always have been, and always will be.
