Effective time management: Commit to one thing

When I’m working with clients I always tell them that one of the most important factors of effective time management is to know exactly how you spend your time. You may think you do know exactly how you spend your hours but if you take a closer look you will probably surprised at where your time actually goes. For this reason I recommend a time-log as an essential part of effective time management. All you need to do is take note of how your time is spent each day. This will take a little time to do each day but you only need to do it for a week or two and it is well worth it. Once you have kept your time-log for a couple of weeks you will be able to see were your time is and isn’t spent effectively, which will allow you to better manage your time in the future.
